A pair of Old Sheffied Plate wine coolers by The Soho Plate Company / Matthew Boulton circa 1820. Twin "sun" marks to footrims.
Each is engraved with a coat of arms to the front and elephant crest to the back. In fine condition.
Matthew Boulton was a founder of the Birmingham Assay Office and can be considered one of the fathers of the industrial revolution with workshops in city. To refect this his image now appears on the fifty pound note and his former home, Soho House, is a museum.
