Tobacco was quickly widely distributed across the world and was claimed to mitigate a multitude of health issues such as heart disease and depression. Tobacco connoisseur were deeply knowledgeable about tobacco lore. They stored tobacco leaves in these beautifully decorated pots. Painted with allegorical scenes and the name and place where it was grown. The tobacco was imported from Caribbean Islands and from the American colonies of the British Empire. Antique original pots are extremely rare and highly valuable. Our reproductions are hand painted by skilled artisans in the style of the 18th C. Produced in porcelain.
