It’s hard to believe that springtime is almost upon us. Here at PB HQ, we’ve been thinking about the latest spring and summer interior trends and the ways in which we can incorporate these looks into our own homes. We’ve put together a selection of key interior pieces for a spring summer infused interior, with a little inspiration from 2019’s predicted interior design trends.
Green Goodness
Incorporate Nature
Decorating your home with greenery and florals is a widely recognised way to add an instant flourish of nature to a room. Succulents and stems bring the organic and earthy components of the outdoors in. Nothing quite beats the look and feel of a real flower arrangement, but a high-quality faux alternative creates an equally as authentic focal point. Better yet, not only do artificial plants require minimal maintenance but they will look as good throughout the seasons as they will in a year’s time. Greenery works particularly well for this year's spring and summer interior trends due to its rich colour. Deep green hues beautifully complement distressed warm wood furniture, creating a fresh feeling that is at one with nature (and will feel particularly cosy when it's grey and rainy outside).
Create Accents
Occasional seating is not only comfortable and stylish but can be used to accent empty corner of the home that might have previously been reserved by a Christmas tree over the winter months. And depending on your interior taste, the occasional seat offers the adaptability to be of any design, colour or material that takes your fancy! Whether it’s to sit in or just admire, the faithful occasional chair serves as a bookmark piece for the rest of the year ahead. Statement arches and scalloped forms that replicate the shapes of nature like our Trapezium Chair nod to this year’s curved sofas trend. Meanwhile, bright colours will alleviate and elevate your mood if the weathers grim outside this spring and summer. In the words of self-confessed maximalist, Nicola Broughton aka. “The Girl with the Green Sofa”: ‘bringing colour into your home can enhance your mood' with the adaptability to be 'uplifting', 'relaxing' or 'stimulating’.
Statement Lighting
More Than Just a Trend
Any season of the year is an excuse to enhance your interior with spectacular lighting. But the move into spring and summer sees a gradual increase in daylight. So now’s the time to ensure that the lighting in your home looks just as good on as it does off. Industrial pendants and tripods are an ongoing trend and a great go-to for the modern living space seeking a focal point to unite a room. These lights have a warm ambience about them, especially when paired with an industrial style statement bulb. Ideal for dim spring and warm summer evenings, statement lighting makes your interior a welcoming and cosy hub reminiscent of this year’s hygge inspired home comforts trend.
Create A Dramatic Space
If industrial style is not for you or your interior taste requires something a little more invigorating, go for a more dramatic statement like the triple of starry burst pendant lights pictured above. Our Tivoli Chandelier is similar in tone and shape and will look particularly stunning draped from wondrously high ceilings. Whilst our Spyro Pendant offers a luxurious look for less in a sparkling silver finish.
Spring Wall Decor
Living Coral
A fresh lick of paint or new feature wallpaper is a brilliant and purposeful way to add life to a new interior scheme this spring. And with Living Coral as Pantone's Colour of the Year 2019, bold colours are certainly on trend. However, perhaps you already adore your interior palette or have given your home a revamp recently. For something a little less time consuming with instant effect, we’d suggest some simple wall decor changes to add fresh life to your home this season. Of course, we already know that wall mirrors are a saving grace accessory in the small or dark interior for their space enhancing and brightening capabilities. Spring floral prints with blossom and coral tones are everywhere at the moment. They are perfect for adding life to your interior, bringing together components of both nature and colour to enhance your mood and your living space.
Make Your Interior Your Own
Taking the time to put some thought into your wall decor can really complete an interior scheme. In the spirit of spring cleaning, now is the perfect time to add photographs to longstanding empty frames, enliven bare walls with a mirror, clock or art print and add some personality to interior walls in need of a facelift. Arched, deeply panelled mirrors reminiscent of period windows are a beautiful way to highlight an interior space. For a more relaxed look, try propping a large floor mirror against an interior wall to blend seamlessly into modern and informal living spaces.
