Coffee Table

A beautiful rectangular walnut coffee table by Jonathan Charles with a curved stretcher frame, gilded details on the turned legs and a hand painted eglomise top. Highly decorative, yet still containing the sleek and elegant lines of a more contemporary piece, this coffee table would suit a modern, light living room.

The Beauty of Églomisé

Églomisé is an ancient technique of glass painting and decorating that dates back to the Egyptian times. It was revived in Europe during the 18th century and the term is derived from the French 'Verre églomisé', meaning 'gilded glass'. Églomisé is a process where the reverse side of a piece of glass is gilded with gold or silver leaf using a gelatin adhesive. The result is a mirror-like, softly reflective surface that when combined with reverse painting techniques creates rich, shimmering and beautifully reflective pieces of artwork. The process is extremely difficult, delicate and elaborate, and Jonathan Charles use the technique to enhance the beauty of their pieces. The surface of this coffee table is a wonderful work of art.

Luxe Collection

Jonathan Charles captures the heyday of the 1920s-40s era with the Luxe Collection. A transitional and more contemporary collection, strong silhouettes are mixed with beautiful finishes to create pieces suitable for more modern interiors.
