Slender Display Cabinet
Two slender display cabinet swith adjustable glass shelves raised on fluted brass capped legs by Jonathan Charles. Made with burl oak veneer with fine mother of pearl work to the frieze and cupboard front, each cabinet contains individually applied glazing bars with a finely inlaid detail to the centre. The cabinets also include touch-sensitive lighting with three settings. Highly intricate and ornate, these cabinets would suit traditional dining rooms and could be used to display exquisite pieces of tableware.
Burl oak occurs due to branches and other off-shoots to the main trunk of the tree. The finished look for furniture is an intricate individual pattern, where every piece of wood is different. Mother of Pearl is a composite material produced by molluscs as an inner shell layer which makes up the outer coating of pearls. It is strong, resilient, iridescent and utterly beautiful. The mother of pearl inlays on these cabinets provide the finishing touches to two truly opulent pieces of furniture and works of art. The cabinets are also entirely hand crafted, ensuring their uniqueness and individuality.
The Jonathan Charles Duchess collection is inspired by 19th century Italian decorative furniture. The pieces contain heavily distressed finishes and contrasting rasied veneer detail. It is an exquisite collection, defined largely by hand inlaid mother-of-pearl detailing.
