Selfless, caring and (in some cases) unbelievably tolerant! There is more than one way to describe a mum. However, one thing's for certain: our own mum is most definitely the best. Although we might be thankful for everything they do for us all year round, sometimes it's hard to know where to begin in expressing our gratitude. Mother's Day - which is on Sunday 22nd March this year - is the perfect time to show mum your love and appreciation by treating her to something special. But if you're stuck for ideas, don't worry! We've done the hard work for you and put together a helpful Mother's Day Gift Guide. This year, we're taking inspiration from the 3 C's: candle holders, cushions and ceramics!

Mother's Day Gift Guide 2020 - Candle Holders

CANDLE HOLDERS

A Great Go-To Mother's Day Gift

If your mum loves candles, then a beautiful holder for candles or to swathe the cosy flicker of tea lights will make a wonderful gift this Mother's Day. Plus, if she’s got a seemingly endless supply of scented candles that she's bought or been gifted, buying a new candle holder will give her the perfect excuse to light and display them.

We know that not everyone’s into candles however. But some candle holders can be used in other ways that still make them a great gift this Mother's Day. Depending on design, tea light holders make beautiful decorations when empty, especially when placed on windowsills, table tops and mantelpieces. Meanwhile, larger candle holders make a great stationary or smaller storage alternative – adding a touch of style to her desk at home or at work!

CUSHIONS

Fun & Unique Designs Inspired By Her Interests

At this cooler time of year, it seems that everyone is looking for ways to make their home as warm and cosy as possible. Whether your mum's trying to achieve the perfect sense of interior hygge or simply wishes to freshen up her home for the season, we think cushions make an excellent Mother's Day gift. Think outside of the box by choosing a decorative cushion inspired by her personality or interests, or carefully choose something that will go with the current cushions decorating her bedspread or sofa.

If you don’t think you quite have the colour matching skills to pick a cushion out, go for the safer option by choosing a unique design that you know she’ll love. If your mum adores nature, seek out cushions with floral, leaves or woodland animal prints. If you think she'll enjoy something more tropical, choose a bold cushion with botanical or palm leaf prints and frilled edges. Or if modern glam is more her style, a cushion with a geometric design in metallic hints of gold and silver might be more to her taste. Your mum can then style this cushion into her existing interior scheme or use as a decorative feature on simple accent chairs or hallway and kitchen benches.

CERAMICS

Ornaments, Vases & Planters

From decorative vases and planters for flowers to ornaments and tableware, ceramics are a stylish piece of homeware that will make a thoughtful gift this Mother's Day. Out of our 3 C's, ceramics are probably the most versatile for their range of designs and finishes. Below, we've gone for a white and blue theme in our Mother's Day Gift Guide edit, but you'll find ceramics in a variety of colours over on our website.

An alternative to vases, pitchers are one of our customer-favourites. They are especially on-trend throughout springtime and look great with daffodils and other seasonal flowers in. If you’re looking to surprise mum with flowers too, why not try artificial ones this year? These are certain to last the season (and long into the future!) and have a great likeness to genuine stems. Real or artificial, ensure that you're clued up with what flowers are in season by checking out our guide to the best flowers for the spring and summer seasons.
