WWI Fighter Plane
The legendary French Spad XIII was nicknamed 'Vieux Charles' (Old Charles), and it was a French biplane fighter aircraft of World War One. Developed by Societe Pour Laciation et ses Derives (SPAD) by the architect Guynemer, its speed and manoeuvrability made it one of the most capable fighter planes of WWI. With 8,472 made and orders of around 10,000 cancelled at the Armistice in 1918, it played an important role in the British-French-American victory and is still revered in France today.
This Authentic Models Spad XIII model is a true replica of Guynemer’s plane. It would look fantastic in a corporate office or even at home as a piece of decor. Replica model planes make a great focal point and add to the atmosphere and interest of the room's decor.
Attention to Detail
Handmade with meticulous attention to detail, the Spad XIII has been made with a lightweight frame assembled and silk fabric stretched across, similar to the original construction from the early 1900s. It has laminated wood propellers, spoke wheels with rubber tires and metal hardware including landing gear. There is everything to intrigue anyone with any interest in aviation here.
